Destination: Iowa City, IA
My Trip:
I used to be a regular at Iowa River Power Company, a great restaurant just outside Iowa City in Coralville. It has awesome prime rib and views of the Iowa River. Plus it’s housed in the remodeled power company building, so the setting is very cool. Again, Iowa City offers a lot of treats that you find in many towns in the Midwest (can you tell, I’m from Iowa?). There are some fine people who are ready and willing to talk at the drop of a hat. (Really, go to Iowa City, drop your hat and just see what happens!). University of Iowa is located here so you’ll find a lot of young folks trying to figure out what they’re doing in their life. And because of those pesky kids, you’ll also find all sorts of restaurants and lounges to pass the hours and feed the tummy. And there are little joys that you won’t find anywhere else – places like the beautiful Gazebo on the Green or the surprisingly interesting Czech & Slovak Museum (I kid you not!).
