Destination: Death Valley, CA

My Trip:

One day on a whim (while on another trip), a friend and I rented a car to see Death Valley. Neither of us had any idea why we felt such a strong pull and neither of us expected a whole lot. But let me tell you, whatever you do, if you have a chance, just get behind the wheel and drive, as Death Valley is one of the most beautiful sights I’ve ever witnessed. The glorious rock formations and stunning wildflowers among so many shades of brown is truly a sight to behold. To top it off, there are also actual ghost towns throughout! Just like on The Brady Bunch, with tumbleweed and all. And if you see a sign along the western ridge of the Valley pointing to “Charcoal Kilns”, take a turn. You’ll find about a half dozen bee-hived shaped buildings that were used in the 1800s to make charcoal. Then go inside one and sing your heart out because the acoustics make Carnegie Hall sing the blues!
