Destination: Dallas, TX
My Trip:
This city is everything you’d hope it would be. It’s big and it’s Texan! And for a Northeasterner, that’s exactly what I wanted. They’ve got big cars driving down the highway, gleaming buildings that would make JR proud and men in cowboy hats actually moseying down the street. While I was in town for work, I didn’t get to do a lot of sightseeing. However, being a history buff, I did need to check out all the JFK stuff. The Dallas County Historical Society operates The Sixth Floor Museum of the Texas Book School Depository, a small but surprisingly thorough exhibit on the life and legacy of Kennedy, housed in the location that Lee Harvey Oswald allegedly killed the president. It is located directly across from Dealy Plaza, now a National Historic Landmark. They are both places that everyone should experience. And afterward, may I suggest another Texan activity – eating. I highly recommend Pappas Brothers’ Steakhouse, one of the favorite restaurants of the people in the know in Big D.
