About Erik Hastings

Erik Hastings Speaker Information Page

WABC Travel Host Erik Hastings , is doing what he was born to do: Travel, meet and interact with people in places all over the world, and get behind the biggest microphone he can find (WABC Radio-NY). Erik's company, Scripted Improv Media Inc., produces a weekly travel show for WABC Radio's tri-state listening audience. Official tourism bureaus, travel professionals and "destination experts" collaborate with Scripted Improv to ensure accuracy and relevancy of destination and travel content.

In addition to the weekly show, the company recently pioneered a new style of online destination videos gaining national attention with the launch of new videos for Detroit , the host city of Super Bowl XL . In writing about the success of the videos and Erik's entertaining style, Detroit News columnist Neal Rubin dubbed Erik the "Flip tour guide."

Erik is a frequent visitor to some destinations, like Atlantic City and Las Vegas , noting, "These types of destinations are growing and changing rapidly, necessitating frequent visits to see the progress." (On hearing this explanation, friends and family give an understanding nod and recommend therapy.)

Born and raised in America's heartland (that's code for Des Moines, Iowa) Erik got his first taste of travel when, at age 13, he was invited to join the cast of the musical "Peace Child," which was making its debut tour to Moscow and other cities of the former Soviet Union. That memorable trip planted the seed of what has grown to be a passion to make the most of every trip opportunity . . . for education . . . entertainment . . . business . . . or pure recreational and leisure enjoyment.

Erik has had the privilege of working for radio superstars Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, both of whom are known for pursuing career and lifestyle dreams with passion and excellence; they have been great mentors and a source of inspiration for Erik.

Erik is currently president of Scripted Improv Media, a company he founded in 1996 to produce original and entertaining content for worldwide distribution. In 2003, he forged his first syndication agreement with Dallas-based TM Century Inc. The new service, called the Daily Comedy Network, was launched in 2003. Erik and his independent-contractor staff are heard every morning on over 200 hundred radio stations in the US and around the world.

Erik is passionate about travel as an avocation, and about creative media production, as a business. He attributes much of his success to the team of collaborators that work with him to produce excellent content.
